Several years ago I started reading Barack Obama’s first book, his memoir entitled, “Dreams From My Father”. At the time, I found it interesting but was not engaged enough to make it past the first few chapters. After he won the election though, it seemed like everything he wrote had a new meaning to me and I wasn’t able to put it down. This book gives a really good insight into his life before politics up until he became an active community organizer in Chicago. I really recommend reading this book if you are curious about who he is, how his beliefs were formed, and what was on his mind before he took public office. The stories of his father and Barack’s trip to Kenya are pretty incredible.

I really wanted him to go further along in his life, including his time in law school, but I guess I’ll have to read “The Audacity of Hope” to get the rest.
