Project Niu Website

Project Niu was perhaps one of the most fun and interesting products that I’ve ever worked on. Through a K-12 educational grant from NOAA, we were able to develop science curricula for middle schools students surrounding the deployment of GPS-tracked ocean drifter buoys that transmitted their positions via Iridium satellites on a daily basis. I loved teaching the classes, going on field trips to do beach cleanups, and hypothesizing with the students about where the buoys would travel.

I recently finished the new website for Project Niu (screenshot above). I also created the tracker for Project Niu (the map part of it is shown below) that allows students to see where the buoys have traveled each day.
